We believe that Baptism is a sacrament; that is, that God’s love is uniquely present in our communal act of blessing the one being baptized. Inspired by Jesus’ own baptism and teaching, we believe that baptism is an “outward and visible sign of the grace of God,” a love that precedes us and will endure throughout this life and beyond. In baptism, we welcome one another into the community of Christ’s church, offer the sign and seal of God’s forgiveness and begin a journey of faith that will last a lifetime.
At First Congregational Church of Dundee, we typically baptize our children during infancy; however, baptism for older children, youth and adults is also welcomed and celebrated!
You do not need to be a member to be baptized or to have your children baptized. However, we believe strongly that baptism is not a one-time, isolated event, but rather the beginning of a faith journey – a journey that happens best within a faithful community. We believe that the promises we make one another at baptism can only be fulfilled through our ongoing, mutual support and by modeling a faithful way of life for our children. Therefore, we strongly encourage the parents or guardians of any baptized children to continue to participate in the life and ministry of the church.
All baptisms at FCC will be celebrated by one of our pastors. For more information or to schedule a baptism, please contact our Office Manager, Chris Awe, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 847-426-2161 ext. 202. Thank you!
