Hilltop  Community Suppers is a "new" ministry and outreach effort.  They provide a delicious, healthy meal, served in a sit-down restaurant style, to members of our church and community.  These meals are free to anyone who needs them, though freewill donations are accepted.  See the Daily Herald 8/25/15 article

At the heart of these dinners is hospitality: a welcome to all and a call to serve.  Rather than a soup kitchen, these dinners hope to build a diverse community around the table, living out our core values of loving God, loving others and welcoming all.  See the Daily Herald 5/12/16 article

These suppers also respond to many – often hidden – needs within our community, including food insecurity and social isolation.  They have a long and successful history amongst a grouping of churches in St. Charles, Geneva and Batavia, as they coordinated to offer these meals six times a month at six different locations.  The meals have been described as transformative, eye-opening and God-filled by those who have participated, and we are hoping that we can help lead the way in building a similar collection of churches in our area.  We are grateful for the exceptional work that so many have done to prepare us for this new opportunity – thank you!

What We Will Be Able To Do

Hilltop Community Suppers are a multifaceted program with many opportunities to contribute.  Some areas include: table set up and take down, food pick-up and delivery, baking, cooking, food preparation, grant writing, shopping, greeting, waiting and bussing tables (done by middle school students), decorating, hosting tables, requesting donations from businesses, getting the word out to participants and volunteers and much more!

Other Notes

  • If you have a friend who has a heart for service, please let them know!  This is truly a community supper and help from anyone who wants to serve others is greatly valued.  They do not need to be members of our church or any church.
  • Our plan is for our wait staff to be made up entirely of middle school students.  If you know of any who would like to help, please have them fill out a volunteer form and let us know that they are a middle school student.
  • High school students will work alongside adults.  This is a great way to earn their community service hours!

If you believe you can help now or if you are interested in being contacted to help in the coming months, please contact our Office Manager, Chris Awe, at 847-426-2161 ext. 202 or e-mail her at cawe@fccdundee.com, and let us know you would like to be included in the Hilltop Suppers process.

Thank you for your interest in this project.  We are looking forward to the weeks, months and years ahead!
